All of them are for the same price.
A BMW M5 2001 with a bit of love to give.
A 2004 Volvo V70R
or a Jaguar XJR 2001
Which one would you take and why?

M5, because (despite the sport button and Dual VANOS) it's a driver's car.

M5. End of story.

V70 R for sure. Do I want the M5? HELL YES. However, let's be realists here about condition and up-keep. Also, I love the Jag, but I can't help but picture the thing sitting in my repair shop's parking lot instead of my driveway.

All good choices, my impulse decision would be the M5 but I'd probably end up being happier with the Volvo. I have no reasons, as I haven't driven any of them.

M5 all day.

M5. The last driver oriented M5.

The XJR, because then I can say I've got a Jaaaaag.

The XJR, because the class meter has been so blown up that I don't have a single fuck to give about the AJ.

That was my take. Impulse -M5. 6 months later I'd be wishing I had the Volvo.

M5....because M5

Do remember to find a new intercooler since a warm ambient temperature (somewhere around 75*F) would halve the performance of the engine.
Oh, and $500 per Nivomat-the-second shocks.

M5 cause it's overall a better package.

Find a 2002+ XJR and you got a deal. This way you wont have to deal with nicasil and e10 fuel problems.

Easy. M5.
Mostly because I've already made up my mind and on the hunt for one .

M5 no question. Just a pure sport sedan in my opinion. The E39 is one of the best body style BMW has ever made (biased)

V70 because practical speed ftw

If you live where it doesn't snow, M5 because dorifto.
If you live where it snows, V70R because four wheel dorifto.

I just did this for ~15k, ended up with a GTO lol

Except I found theses for under 10K :P GTO is still over 16K where I live.

It get a bit more expensive than other after that lol.

In that case I would go with the V70R or a m540i. I've driven a 13k M5 and that was pretty shot... 10k would worry me.

Its not much more expensive, I recall seeing 2002/03 xjr's for about 1-2k more than 2000/01 versions. The late 90's versions are 1/2 the price though.

Yeah true...still over 10k though

The vanos was fine, serviced by a specialized bmw mechanic. The steering was very loose though, definitely needed new tie rods or bushings and I could hear what I assumed to be a bearing going out on the right rear. This one had 110k miles but I guess you just assume those inflated repair costs when you buy a V8 M BMW, I couldn't.
